Etihad expands U.S. network with new direct flights to Atlanta

    July 4, 2025 Travel

Etihad Airways has officially inaugurated its first flight to Atlanta, marking a significant step in the airline’s ongoing North American expansion. The inaugural service from Abu Dhabi to Atlanta touched down on July 2, 2025, connecting the capital of the UAE with the economic hub of the southeastern United States. The launch of the new route adds Atlanta to Etihad Airways’ existing U.S. destinations, which include New York City, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Boston. With the addition of Atlanta, the airline now offers direct services to five major U.S. cities, strengthening connectivity between the United States and the Middle East.

Passengers departing from Abu Dhabi benefit from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance facility located at Zayed International Airport. This service allows travellers to complete immigration and customs procedures before boarding, enabling them to arrive in the United States as domestic passengers. The preclearance facility, the only one of its kind in the Middle East, significantly reduces processing time upon arrival and enhances travel convenience.

Etihad Airways stated that the new service responds to increasing demand for travel between the UAE and the United States, catering to business travellers, tourists, and those visiting family and friends. The route is expected to strengthen commercial ties and provide greater travel options for both regions. Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, highlighted the importance of the new destination, describing Atlanta as a city with significant cultural, economic, and aviation relevance. He noted that the route would not only improve access to the southeastern United States but also offer passengers seamless connections to destinations across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Asia.

The airline emphasised its commitment to providing a high-quality travel experience on the new route, with modern aircraft and service offerings designed to meet the expectations of international travellers. The Atlanta route is anticipated to support tourism and trade, reflecting Etihad’s broader strategy to expand its global network and facilitate international connectivity. The new service follows Etihad Airways’ steady growth in North America and aligns with its efforts to meet rising passenger demand while supporting economic collaboration between the United States and the UAE. The airline continues to explore opportunities to expand its global reach and enhance travel options for its customers worldwide. – By MENA Newswire News Desk.
